Seattle, WA 12/15 – The Bouldering Project, an innovator in the growing climbing gym industry, is pleased to announce the addition of Kevin Jorgeson to its leadership team. Jorgeson, a globally recognized climber for his ascent of El Capitan’s Dawn Wall, will take on the role of Head of Product, where he will oversee climbing, yoga, fitness, community building, and programming.

“The moment you walk into a Bouldering Project you feel that something unique and intentional is happening,” says Jorgeson. “Climbing gyms and the community that gather here have become the beating heart of our sport and the Bouldering Project has been at the forefront of that movement for the last decade. I’m honored to help lead this brand into the next chapter.”

In 2015, Jorgeson and his partner Tommy Caldwell captured the world’s attention with their groundbreaking 19-day ascent of El Capitan’s 3,000-foot Dawn Wall. National Geographic awarded the duo Adventurer’s of the Year and then President Obama called to celebrate their success.

“In many ways, Kevin’s climbing helped usher in a new chapter in our sport, bringing climbing into the mainstream’s consciousness,” says Danielle Soncrant the Head of People at the Bouldering Project who helped open the doors of the first of the Bouldering Project’s ten locations. “That didn’t happen by accident. It was a byproduct of Kevin’s passion, work ethic, talent and savviness for communicating what’s meaningful about our sport to a broader audience.”

Jorgeson brings years of tactical experience from his time opening and running Session, a state-of-art climbing gym in his hometown of Santa Rosa, CA. As Head of Product, Jorgeson will lead initiatives to elevate the gym’s climbing, fitness and yoga offerings, focusing on creating innovative and engaging climbing experiences for both elite climbers and those just stepping into the sport. His knowledge of the climbing landscape through his years of professional climbing and brand ambassadorship aligns with The Bouldering Project’s mission to provide a dynamic and inclusive environment for climbers.

“In a lot of ways, this role is my next Dawn Wall,” says Jorgeson. “All the pieces are there to create something incredible. It’s just a matter of bringing the imagination, tenacity and partnership to connect them together.”
