Tenaya, the Spanish-based designer and manufacturer of premier climbing footwear, is proud to announce its title sponsorship of the AAC’s (American Alpine Club’s) 2024 Craggin’ Classic Series. Tenaya, which is exclusively distributed in the US by Colorado-based Trango, will be the title sponsor for all six of the 2024 Craggin’ Classic events.

The 2024 Craggin’ Classic Events are scheduled for Ozarks (Bentonville, AR, May 10-12); Devil’s Lake (Baraboo, WI, August 23-25); Rumney (Rumney, NH, Sept 6-8); New River Gorge (Lansing, WV, Sept 13-15); Shelf Road (Cañon City, CO, October 11-13); Bishop (Bishop, CA, Oct 18-20).

“Since my first trip to Yosemite in the 1990’s, I have felt the inclusivity of the US climbing community,” says Tenaya founder, Jose Luis Garcia Gallego. “We are very pleased to be a part of the highly popular Craggin’ Classics and look forward to not only the climbing at these historic crags, but also the interaction with so many attendees from North America and all over the world. We thank the AAC for the opportunity to be a part of the fun and education.”

Trango president, Chris Klinke, also expresses his full support of the AAC Craggin’ Classic/AAC and Tenaya partnership. “As Tenaya’s US distributor, we’ve experienced the incredible reception of Tenaya shoes in the US climbing community,” says Klinke. “One thing that we’ve noticed about Tenaya shoes is that they elevate the climbing experience on so many different types of rock, for everyone from beginners to experts. We think Tenaya is the perfect title sponsor for the Craggin’ Classic, and we think the attendees will agree.”

The AAC’s Craggin’ Classic Series of events began in 2010. They provide a fun, safe, and inclusive opportunity for people of all skill levels and backgrounds to celebrate climbing (and climbing culture). In addition to taking place in some of the U.S.’s most iconic climbing destinations, the multi-day festivals provide camping opportunities, climbing clinics, riveting guest speakers, product demos and scrumptious meals that often feature locally-sourced drinks and food.  The events are known for their “skill” courses, which are taught by professional athletes and guides, film screenings, and festive evening entertainment.

Tenaya will provide a full fleet of performance climbing shoes for attendees to demo, as well as some of the world’s top climbers, including Chris Sharma, Jimmy Webb and Drew Ruana, to participate in select clinics, presentations, and of course, climbing.

The Craggin’ Classic Series attracts over 3,500 participants annually, from beginners to experts, with attendees from all over the world. The Series brings together more than 50 outdoor industry brands, as well as the expertise from nearly two dozen local climbing organizations. Each season, there are more than 100 clinics, first-run films, and compelling, educational speakers.

About Tenaya

Tenaya is the brainchild of legendary big wall climber and shoe designer Jose Luis Garcia Gallego. The conception of the brand was born during a first ascent in Yosemite National Park in the 1990s. Gallego’s first ascents in Yosemite include “Mediterraneo,” “Verano Mágico,” “Costa Calidad,” and “AVE.”

All Tenaya shoes are designed and hand-crafted in southern Spain. Since the brand’s inception in 1997, Tenaya climbing shoes have been a part of some of the world’s most beautiful, as well as most difficult, climbing routes.
