Competition Team Head Coach

Vertical View Climbing Gym in Meridian, ID:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join us as our Competition Team Head Coach. This position offers 20 hours per week with opportunities for additional hours in other departments. At Vertical View, we seek to impact lives by creating a supporting and welcoming environment that fosters personal growth and meaningful relationships. Our 20,000 sq. ft facility opened in 2019 and features 65’ walls, a 20m speed wall, 80+ boulder problems and a full fitness facility. In 2023 we hosted USAC Elite Nationals for both Speed and Lead.

Responsibilities:

-Develop Programs and Curriculum: Continue to develop our Competition Team program of over 45 athletes, spread across 4 teams.

-Coaching: Provide hands-on coaching that focuses on movement efficiency, skill development and strength training.

-Travel to Competitions: Between Sept. and June, travel with our Comp Teams, fostering a positive team culture and coaching athletes at various USAC competitions around the country.

-Collaboration: Work with existing coaches to ensure continuity between teams and to develop a central focus for our Competition Teams.

-Parent Communication: Provide effective communication with parents, providing regular updates on progress, schedules, and team events.

Qualifications:
– Previous coaching experience in youth climbing programs.
– Strong understanding of climbing techniques, tactics, training, and competition formats in USA Climbing.
– Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with both youth athletes and their parents.
– Previous certifications in coaching (CWA, USAC, etc.) required.
