    Job Description: The Senior Manager of Marketing  at The Spot Climbing Gym is a pivotal role responsible for spearheading the strategic direction and execution of all marketing efforts, event planning and execution, and partnership development. This individual will ensure that The Spot’s brand is consistently and thoughtfully represented across all channels and that the climbing gym remains a community hub that offers remarkable experiences. By developing and overseeing innovative marketing strategies, overseeing a dynamic calendar of events, and cultivating strong relationships with partners, this role aims to enhance The Spot’s visibility, increase membership, and foster a supportive and engaged climbing community.

    Starting Pay Range: $70,000 – $85,000/yr., commensurate with experience

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized four-year college or university strongly preferred
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in the climbing or outdoor industries.
    • At least 2 years of proven success in event management and partnership development.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team of marketing and events professionals.
    • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
    • Strong analytical skills, with experience in budget management and ROI optimization.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with partners, vendors, and community members.
    • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot), Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Workspace applications.
    • Background in strategic planning and execution, with a knack for creative and innovative thinking.

    Position Responsibilities

    Strategic Oversight:
    – Brand Stewardship: Act as the guardian of The Spot’s brand, ensuring that every piece of communication, event, and partnership accurately reflects and enhances the brand’s identity and values.

    – Develop and refine the brand’s voice across all platforms, ensuring consistency and alignment with the company’s mission.

    – Market Analysis and Adaptation: Regularly analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform strategic decisions. Adapt marketing strategies and event planning to meet evolving market demands and to capitalize on new opportunities for growth and engagement.

    Operational Excellence:
    – Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources, including budgets, materials, and human resources, to achieve departmental goals efficiently and effectively.

    – Implement systems for tracking and optimizing the use of resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

    – Technology and Tools: Leverage the latest technology and tools for marketing, event management, and partnership development. Stay abreast of new technologies that can enhance operational efficiency, improve customer engagement, and provide competitive advantages.

    Team Development and Leadership:
    – Cultural Leadership: Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team. Encourage open communication, collaboration, and the sharing of ideas to drive the team’s success and professional growth.

    – Skill Development and Training: Identify skill gaps within the team and implement training programs to enhance their capabilities. Provide opportunities for team members to attend workshops, seminars, and conferences that can enrich their skills and knowledge.

    Collaborative Initiatives:
    – Cross-Functional Teamwork: Work closely with other departments to ensure marketing, events, and partnerships support and amplify the company’s overall objectives.

    – Facilitate cross-departmental projects that leverage the strengths of different teams to create synergies and achieve common goals.

    – Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with the wider community, including local businesses, non-profits, and government entities, to foster relationships that benefit both The Spot and the community.

    – Act as a spokesperson for The Spot in community and industry events, building the company’s profile and expanding its influence.

    Innovative Marketing and Events:
    – Digital Marketing Innovation: Explore and implement innovative digital marketing strategies, including social media, email marketing, content marketing, and search engine optimization, to engage with different segments of the target audience effectively.

    – Event Innovation: Work closely with the Event Manager to conceptualize and launch signature events that set The Spot apart from competitors. These events should not only attract the climbing community but also appeal to a broader audience, showcasing The Spot as a leader in the industry.

    Partnership Expansion:
    – Strategic Partnerships: Identify and forge strategic partnerships with national and international brands that can elevate The Spot’s brand presence and offer added value to its members. Develop co-branded initiatives that leverage the strengths of both partners.

    – Community Programs: Design and implement community outreach programs in partnership with local organizations to promote health, wellness, and environmental stewardship. These programs should reflect The Spot’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.

    Reporting and Communication:
    – Performance Metrics: Develop and maintain a dashboard of key performance indicators (KPIs) for marketing, events, and partnerships. Regularly report on these metrics to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

    – Success Stories: Document and share success stories from marketing campaigns, events, and partnership initiatives. These stories should highlight The Spot’s impact on the community, customer engagement, and brand growth, serving as powerful tools for internal motivation and external communication.

    Reports/Logs to be Delivered to Direct Supervisor:

    – Monthly P&L reports for marketing and events departments.
    Detailed marketing campaign and event proposals, including objectives, budget, and ROI analyses.
    – Monthly performance reports, highlighting key metrics and insights.
    – Annual marketing and events calendar, outlining planned campaigns and events.
    – Quarterly reviews of promotional newsletters and digital content for quality and effectiveness.
    – Semi-annual performance review, including feedback and plans for departmental growth and improvement.
