    Overview:

    The Director of Marketing is a dynamic and experienced professional in the indoor climbing industry. This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader to drive the development and execution of innovative marketing strategies, as well as work cross-functionally to understand marketing needs, act as a company brand ambassador to external sources, and drive revenue growth through successful marketing campaigns. As the steward of our brand, the Director of Marketing will play a pivotal role in shaping Sender One’s identity and ensuring a compelling and cohesive presence across various channels.

    Responsibilities:

    Marketing Strategy Development and Execution:

    • Craft and execute innovative marketing strategies that align with Sender One’s overarching vision
    • Serve as the primary steward of Sender One’s brand, ensuring a consistent and compelling presence across all channels.
    • Develop and implement marketing campaigns that contribute directly to driving new customers.
    • Participate in strategic planning sessions with the executive team to align marketing initiatives with broader company objectives.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration by engaging with various departments to understand marketing needs.
    • Act as a liaison between the marketing team and other departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to achieving organizational goals.

    Team Leadership:

    • Manage, train, and develop a team of 5-7 direct reports within the marketing department
    • Motivate, inspire, and foster skill development, providing guidance and support to team members.
    • Set clear performance expectations, goals, and objectives for each team member.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance team effectiveness.

    Marketing Oversight:

    • Lead and oversee all marketing functions, including brand management, communications (website, email, social media, blogs), design, retail, events, public relations, and community programs.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for company offerings, sales events, and digital/in-person campaigns.
    • Ensure a seamless user experience and visually compelling displays aligned with the company’s brand image.
    • Plan, set, and monitor the annual budget and calendar for marketing, retail, and events.
    • Solicit event sponsors and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with partners.

    Market Research and Analysis:

    • Stay abreast of market research and trends to inform marketing strategies and gym operations.
    • Establish and track marketing-relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reviewing results and implementing corrective actions as needed.

    Project Management:

    • Responsible for marketing initiatives for new gym developments and expansion projects, including strong project management skills, the ability to pivot quickly, and stay on top of shifting priorities and deadlines.
    • Plan, oversee, and project manage the development of design, content, and marketing materials aligned with the company’s voice and brand image.

    Profile:

    • 5 – 8 years of leadership experience in a marketing role.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities and diverse personality types.
      Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with employees, management, and partners – calm, professional, and empathetic to all levels.
    • Passionate about climbing and fostering a positive environment within the industry.
    • Open to receiving and providing feedback, guidance, insight, assistance, and perspective in a professional manner.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, capable of developing and leading a team.
    • Delegate and communicate with staff clearly and respectfully.

    Experience:

    • Previous creative experience in design, brand identity, or creative direction.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability in an educational, fitness, or professional setting.
    • Progressive management experience in a customer service business.
    • Experience in building and motivating a team of various personalities and talents.
    • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    • Knowledge of Google Suite, including Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and Drive.
    • Knowledge of design software (Adobe Suite – Photoshop, InDesign and Canva).
    • Knowledge of website builders (WordPress or Squarespace).
    • Knowledge of email marketing and survey software (Mailchimp and Typeform).
    • Familiarity with Rock Gym Pro or other CRM reporting and data handling.
    • Project management software experience.

    Time Commitment:

    • Must be able to work 40-50 hours per work week (Sun – Sat);
    • Must be available to work in-person at any Sender One location required during the work week. Opportunity for remote work on certain days available;
    • Must be fully available to work weekends when needed for special events, training, shadows etc. (Sat & Sun);
    • Must be able to work certain morning, night, and alternate weekend day shifts depending on business and/or operational needs;
    • Must be able to attend weekly operations management, marketing, and other relevant meetings;
    • Must be able to attend the Mandatory All Staff Quarterly meeting.
