    Summer Camp Instructors are dependable, caring, joyful staff who facilitate bouldering day camps that provide huge fun, big challenges, and room for youth aged 6-15 yrs to try new activities. Instructors set clear expectations, engaging activities, and positive reinforcement to foster a safe and inclusive environment for all  summer camp participants. Instructors lead and facilitate climbing instruction, games, and activities for summer  camp participants, and are expected to follow and uphold all SBP rules and Youth Program policies.

    Program Instruction

    • Facilitate check-in, waivers, rental shoes, facility rules and orientation with Summer Camp participants.
    • Develop and execute lessons that contribute to and reflect the quality of SBP’s youth programs.
    • Instruct Summer Camp sessions in collaboration with/under the guidance of the Programs Manager.
    • Participate in instruction of scheduled groups.
    • Provide excellent customer service to all families entering the Seattle Bouldering Project facility by communicating in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Maintain regular communication with Programs Manager regarding youth programming at SBP.
    • Provide ongoing feedback to youth, their families, and Programs Managers regarding the needs and development of youth programs participants.

    FACILITY SAFETY AND INCIDENT RESPONSE

    • Ensure that all participants are aware of the risks, rules, and regulations of the facility.
    • Actively promote risk mitigation through ongoing instruction and orientation.
    • Ensure the safety of participants, staff, and regular customers through group organization, oversight, and control.
    • Respond to any and all safety or health incidents following the Safety Manual and protocol.
    • Administration of first aid in accordance with Safety Manual and SBP protocol.
    • Documentation of incidents through incident report log.
    • Track and maintain Seattle Bouldering Project Youth Program equipment.
    • Tidy areas used by Summer Camp at the end of each day to ensure the spaces are clean and presentable for other guests
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 18 years of age
    • A background check will be completed upon hire
    • Enjoy working with youth
    • Previous camp experience preferred
    • Previous customer service experience preferred
    • First Aid/CPR certification preferred

    SCHEDULE AND EXPECTATIONS

    • Attend camp instructor training in mid-June
    • Work between 15 and 35 hours per week for 5-8 weeks of camp over the summer, starting June 17th. Schedule preferences will be taken into consideration.
    • Camp shifts generally range Mon-Fri 8:15am-3:30pm, with additional hours available in Flex Fridays (8:15-2:30pm).
    • Flexibility to work Friday evenings and Saturday daytimes for birthday parties
    • Must be dependable, responsible, and punctual.

    $20 – $21 an hour

    HIRING TIMELINE
    Interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis. Priority will be given to applications who submit information packets before April 15th. Training will take place mid-June.
