Role: General Manager

Pay: $40-60K/yr, depending on experience

Location: Lakewood and Cleveland

Hours: 40 hr/wk

Summary

We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated General Manager with an alignment of company values to join our team. This individual will take complete ownership of the gym, acting as the primary point of contact and decision-maker for all facility needs. This person’s competence will improve business goals and will be adopted by coworkers and customers. Climbing and personal training experience is preferred but not required. The General Manager role includes but is not limited to:

1. Staff

  • Confirm coverage, manage call-offs/vacations, and cover as needed
  • Mentor staff: hire, train, cast vision, review, listen, reward, collaborate, discipline, fire
  • Provide feedback to ensure processes are being implemented and constantly improved
  • Ensure staff and cleaners have what they need: SOPs, up-to-date checklists, supplies
  • Resolve staff issues in three days or less

2. Customers

  • Talk with 3 or more customers per week: ask feedback, make improvements, help climbers win
  • Manage calendar and closings, with a min. of 2 events/month, announced 1 month in advance
  • Handle communications with clarity and care, keeping the general inbox to two or less emails
  • Ensure member experience is fun with onboarding, community, automations, goals, rewards
  • Keep retention processes up-to-date with automations, goal-setting, rewards, community
  • Resolve customer issues and emails in three days or less

3. Facility

  • Commit to choosing one system to improve through focused work every month
  • Take ownership of day-to-day ordering, stocking, supplies, maintenance
  • Ensure the gym is thoroughly cleaned at least once a day
  • Resolve facility issues in three days or less

4. Sales

  • Grow and retain members by conducting free intros with prospects and meeting with customers
  • Create a quarterly outreach plan: expos, comps, special events, weekly advertisements
  • Visit 1 business/wk via cold call to find out how we can help their staff and clients
  • Update customer profiles and billing weekly

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Have strong skills in social media, spreadsheets, website management, and general computing
  • Are well-spoken and comfortable with in-person, over-the-phone, and online communication
  • Know about everything going on in the gym, and act as a filter between staff and leadership
  • Take executive orders, understand the vision, and commit to implementation
  • Perform consistently well on evaluations: 90 percent or better
  • Earn the respect of other staff and lead by example
