Bigfoot Climbing Gym is a bouldering gym located in Morganton, North Carolina. We are right at the base of the Linville Gorge, and within driving distance of several other climbing hotspots including Rumbling Bald, Looking Glass Rock, Boone, and the New River Gorge.  We have a passionate climbing community of all ability levels and are looking for a new Head Routesetter to lead our setting crew.

Bigfoot Climbing Gym is a USAC Youth Qualifying and Regionals host gym.

Specifics:
-3 days per week of setting, forerunning, and admin duties with a fairly flexible schedule.

Responsibilities:
-Maintaining awareness of the needs of the local climbing community and shaping and maintaining a vision for the routesetting to meet those needs.
-Maintaining a safe work environment for self and others.
-Setting and forerunning several boulder problems, of various levels, multiple days in a row.
-Giving and receiving feedback in a healthy way.
-Setting for competitions, and meeting USAC regulations for competitions when required.
-Managing the routesetting schedule and rotation.
-Training and mentoring other routesetters in an encouraging and humble manner.
-Managing hold budget in a way that can best suit the gym and
ordering holds/volumes within that budget.
-Collaborating with others to provide routesetting for various events.
-Various routesetting maintenance duties including hold washing/sorting, climbing wall maintenance, etc.
-Maintaining organization of routesetting equipment and supplies.

Requirements:
-Passion for self-improvement in routesetting and rock climbing.
-Roughly three or more years of commercial routesetting experience.
-Ability to set and forerun multiple levels and lift heavy objects multiple times per week.
-USAC Level 1 routesetting certification or actively pursuing Level 1.
-Ability to collaborate well with other routesetters, give and receive constructive feedback, and receive feedback from gym patrons in a productive and level-headed manner.
-Understanding of practices for optimizing routesetting safety.
-Capability to organize and set for both youth and adult climbing competitions.
-Ability and desire to engage, communicate, and accept feedback with gym members and guests in a professional manner.
