    COMPANY OVERVIEW:

    Located in Arvada, Colorado, Apex Park and Recreation District (PRD) serves the community by connecting them with programs that promote healthy lifestyles and connect people. The rock-climbing program at Apex PRD is a unique program that serves as an accessible entry point into the sport of rock climbing. Our summer outdoor climbing program provides opportunities for children and adults to experience outdoor climbing in a fun and safe environment.

    SUMMARY OF POSITION: We are seeking an experienced and passionate outdoor climbing instructor to join our rock-climbing team. As an outdoor climbing instructor, you will lead climbing excursions in various iconic Front Range crags, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our clients while providing expert guidance and instruction. We’re seeking an instructor with Front Range guiding and/or personal climbing experience, self-motivation, empathy, and a genuine passion for introducing new climbers to the sport. An outdoor climbing instructor is expected to commit to working up to12 hours per week.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead top rope climbing expeditions for individuals and groups of varying skill levels in outdoor environments.
    Conduct safety briefings and equipment checks before each climb.
    Provide comprehensive instruction on climbing techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
    Assess and manage risks associated with outdoor climbing activities.
    Offer encouragement and support to climbers, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
    Navigate routes and identify suitable climbing areas based on client preferences and skill levels.
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local climbing areas, conditions, and regulations.
    Ensure adherence to environmental conservation practices during climbing activities.
    Administer first aid and emergency response procedures as needed.
    Assist with the maintenance and inspection of climbing equipment.

    Job Qualifications
    AMGA Single Pitch Instructor certification or equivalent.
    Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and ability to pass background check.
    Leave No Trace knowledge and ability to teach others.
    Recreational knowledge of Colorado’s front range climbing & beyond
    Experience leading or assisting in outdoor adventure/sport programs with youth.
    Strong group management skills
    Genuine passion for guiding, teaching, and working with all ages.
    First Aid/CPR/AED certification (available upon hiring)
    Wilderness First Aid/Responder certification preferred.
    Must be 18+
