Route Setter Job Description

Below is a list outlining the prerequisites for and primary duties of a Route Setter at Cliff Hangers:

– Minimum Level 1 USAC Certification* Level 2 USAC Routesetter Preferred

– Passion for climbing and experience route setting (at least 1.5 years experience)

– Communicate well with others and accept constructive feedback

– Will work with a team of route setters, directed by the Head Route Setter

– Ability to fore run V5/5.12, preferable (climbing routes, grading routes, etc.)

– Set creative bouldering, top rope, and lead routes directed by the  Head Route Setter

– Strip routes and wash holds

– Maintenance and organization of hold storage room

– Set & work at local competitions/events at Cliff Hangers

– General maintenance of climbing walls (i.e. replacing t-nuts, wall upkeep, etc.)

– Follow all Cliff Hangers safety protocol

– Flexible schedule

– Any special projects as assigned by the Head Routesetter
