Located in Boulder, Colorado, ABC Kids Climbing is a unique climbing facility for kids and the home of Team ABC.

Fostering foundational climbing experiences for preschoolers, leading developmental climbing experiences for kids, coaching competitive climbing experiences for athletes and guiding outdoor climbing experiences for families.

We’re here to share unique climbing experiences with kids and families while developing the next generation of youth climbers.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Gym Director (Director) works closely with the Leadership Team and Executive Team to lead, support, develop and inspire a robust team of ABC employees and a diverse community of ABC children and families. The Director pro-actively manages facility operations via facility departments and departmental staff to ensure a positive experience for the ABC community of staff and customers, while cultivating a healthy company culture.

QUALIFICATIONS:
We’re seeking a team member that’s eager to manage the operations of the facility while being an integral contributor to a collaborative team, and at the same time, can plan and execute independently. Proven success in managing a team in an evolving business environment with the ability to balance big picture thinking with day to day execution. We’re seeking a balance of strong leadership skills and cordial customer experience capability, as well as administrative experience.

Leadership and Management Experience; leading a staff and managing facility operations

Delivers an exceptional customer experience on the floor and at the front desk; enthusiastic, personable and amicable

Engaging communication skills, effective time management and efficient multi-tasking self starter

Team player with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail

Creative problem solver willing to learn and adapt in an evolving fast paced business environment

Understanding of general CMS, POS and collaborative platforms including Google Workspace

Provide a welcoming and inclusive space for all races, religious beliefs, sexual orientations and identities

History leading a staff, experience in climbing gym operations management and a passion for fostering youth climbing experiences a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads, manages and directs the ABC staff in collaboration with the Leadership and Executive Teams

In collaboration with departmental management and staff, oversees facility operations throughout the following departments: Facility, Routesetting, Outdoor Program, Indoor Program and Customer Experience

Identifies staffing needs and hires accordingly in collaboration with the HR Team

Leads by example – participates on the floor, at the front desk and in substitution situations

Has a complete understanding of ABC Kids and Team ABC programs, groups and events – clearly communicating current and future program options and youth tracking paths

Develop and nurture positive relations with the ABC community of kids, parents and families

REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent leadership, communication and customer experience skills

Strong collaborator with the ability to develop and mentor staff members

A self starter with the ability to plan, execute and multitask

Ability to real-time problem solve while handling challenging situations with sound judgment

Understanding of general CMS, POS and collaborative platforms including Google Workspace

Flexibility to work various weekends, evenings, and events

Passionate, enthusiastic and amicable while effectively balancing staff rapport with accountability

EMPLOYMENT PACKAGE:
Annual salary range $48,500 – $56,500 (range flexible, commensurate with experience)
